Fibreglass and Silk Enhancements
There are two materials used to wrap the nails - silk and fibreglass.
Silk is the strongest wrap, being a natural product it is a fine mesh that is embedded into a resin base over the nail.
Fibreglass is also used but is a slightly coarser mesh.
Wrapping is a technique best suited to clients who have nails that split, break and are generally weak and therefore need strengthening and lengthening.
Wrapping may be used in conjunction with nail tips to protect the natural nail and encourage its growth.
Wrapping itself is less suitable for nail biters, for whom acrylic extensions would be more effective.
With correct maintenance every 2 - 3 weeks, the average lifespan of fibreglass wrapped nails extensions is 3 - 4 months.
